2 И пошел3212 Илия,452 чтобы показаться7200 Ахаву.256 Голод7458 же сильный2389 был в Самарии.8111

3 И призвал7121 Ахав256 Авдия,5662 начальствовавшего над дворцом.1004 Авдий5662 же был человек весьма3966 богобоязненный,30683373

24 и призовите7121 вы имя8034 бога430 вашего, а я призову7121 имя8034 Господа3068 Бога430 моего. Тот Бог, Который даст6030 ответ6030 посредством огня,784 есть Бог.430 И отвечал6030 весь народ5971 и сказал:559 хорошо.2896

29 Прошел5674 полдень,6672 а они все еще бесновались5012 до самого времени вечернего жертвоприношения;45035927 но не было ни голоса,6963 ни ответа,6030 ни слуха.7182

30 Тогда Илия452 сказал559 всему народу:5971 подойдите5066 ко мне. И подошел5066 весь народ5971 к нему. Он восстановил7495 разрушенный2040 жертвенник4196 Господень.3068

31 И взял3947 Илия452 двенадцать81476240 камней,68 по числу4557 колен7626 сынов1121 Иакова,3290 которому Господь3068 сказал559 так: Израиль3478 будет имя8034 твое.

36 Во время приношения5927 вечерней жертвы4503 подошел5066 Илия452 пророк5030 и сказал:559 Господи,3068 Боже430 Авраамов,85 Исааков3327 и Израилев!3478 Да познают3045 в сей день,3117 что Ты один Бог430 в Израиле,3478 и что я раб5650 Твой и сделал6213 все по слову1697 Твоему.

37 Услышь6030 меня, Господи,3068 услышь6030 меня! Да познает3045 народ5971 сей, что Ты, Господи,3068 Бог,430 и Ты обратишь5437 сердце3820322 их к Тебе.

38 И ниспал5307 огонь784 Господень3068 и пожрал398 всесожжение,5930 и дрова,6086 и камни,68 и прах,6083 и поглотил3897 воду,4325 которая во рве.8585

39 Увидев7200 это, весь народ5971 пал5307 на лице6440 свое и сказал:559 Господь3068 есть Бог,430 Господь3068 есть Бог!430

Chapter 18

1 AND it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show yourself to Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.

2 And Elijah went to show himself to Ahab. And there was a severe famine in Samaria.

3 And Ahab called Obadiah, who was the steward of his household. (Now Obadiah revered the LORD greatly;

4 For when Jezebel slew the prophets of God, Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

5 And Ahab said to Obadiah, Go through the land, to all fountains of water and to all brooks; perhaps we may find grass to save the horses and mules alive, that we may not lose all the beasts.

6 So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it; Ahab went one way by himself, and Obadiah went another way by himself.

7 And as Obadiah was on the way, behold, Elijah met him; and he recognized him, and fell on his face and said, Is that you, my lord Elijah?

8 And he answered him, It is I; then he said to him, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

9 And Obadiah said, What sin have I committed, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?

10 As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom whither my lord has not sent to seek you; and when they said, He is not here, he took an oath of the kingdoms and nations, that they had not found you.

11 And now you say to me, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

12 And as soon as I am gone from you, the Spirit of the LORD will take you up and carry you whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find you, he shall slay me; but I your servant have revered the LORD from my youth.

13 Has it not been told my lord what I did when Jezebel slew the prophets of God, how I took a hundred of the prophets of the LORD and hid them by fifty in a cave and fed them with bread and water?

14 And now you say to me, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here; and he shall slay me.

15 And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.

16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told Ahab; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

17 And when Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, Are you he who troubles Israel?

18 And Elijah said to him, I have not troubled Israel; but it is you and your father's house, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD and have followed Baal.

19 Now therefore send and gather to me all Israel at mount Carmel and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty and the prophets of the idols four hundred and fifty who eat at Jezebel's table.

20 So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together to mount Carmel.

21 Then Elijah came near to all the people, and said, How long will you halt between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him, but if Baal is god, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.

22 Then Elijah said, I, even I only, remain a prophet of the LORD; but Baal's prophets are four hundred and fifty men.

23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces and lay it on wood and put no fire under; and I will prepare the other bullock and cut it in pieces and lay it on wood and put no fire under it.

24 And you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD my God; and the God who answers by fire, he is God. And all the people answered and said, You have spoken well.

25 Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, Choose for yourselves one bullock, and prepare it first; for you are many;

26 And they took the bullock which was given them and prepared it and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, answer us. But there was no voice nor any that answered. And they cut themselves upon the altar which they had made.

27 And when it was noon, Elijah mocked them and said, Cry with a loud voice; for he is a god; perhaps he is meditating or he is busy or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.

28 And they cried with a loud voice and they cut themselves after their custom with daggers and lances, until their blood gushed out upon them.

29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, but there was no voice nor any to answer nor any to listen. Then Elijah said to the prophets of the idols, Now you can move, so that I may prepare my burnt offerings. And they moved aside.

30 And Elijah said to all the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be your name;

32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

33 And he put the wood in order and cut the bullock in pieces and laid it on the wood and said, Fill four jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.

34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.

35 And the water ran round about the altar; and they filled the trench also with water.

36 And at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet came near and said, O LORD God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel and that I am thy servant and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37 Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that all this people may know that thou art the LORD God and that thou hast turned their perverse heart back again.

38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, The LORD, he is God; the LORD, he is God.

40 And Elijah said to them, Seize the prophets of Baal, and let not one of them escape. And they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and slew them there.

41 And Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink; for there is a rushing sound of heavy rain.

42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bent himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees;

43 And said to his servant, Go up now, and look toward the sea. And he went up and looked, and said, There is nothing. And Elijah said to him, Go again seven times.

44 And at the seventh time, he said, Behold, there is a little cloud like a man's hand rising out of the sea. And he said to him, Go up, say to Ahab, Mount your horse, and get down before the rain stops you.

45 And while he busied himself here and there, the heavens were black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

46 And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran before Ahab till he entered Jezreel.

4 For when Jezebel slew the prophets of God, Obadiah took a hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

8 And he answered him, It is I; then he said to him, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

10 As the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom whither my lord has not sent to seek you; and when they said, He is not here, he took an oath of the kingdoms and nations, that they had not found you.

11 And now you say to me, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here.

14 And now you say to me, Go, tell your lord, Behold, Elijah is here; and he shall slay me.

15 And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.

16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab, and told Ahab; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

17 And when Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, Are you he who troubles Israel?

20 So Ahab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered the prophets together to mount Carmel.

23 Пусть дадут5414 нам двух8147 тельцов,6499 и пусть они выберут977 себе одного259 тельца,6499 и рассекут5408 его, и положат7760 на дрова,6086 но огня784 пусть не подкладывают;7760 а я приготовлю6213 другого259 тельца6499 и положу5414 на дрова,6086 а огня784 не подложу;7760

23 Let them therefore give us two bullocks; and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces and lay it on wood and put no fire under; and I will prepare the other bullock and cut it in pieces and lay it on wood and put no fire under it.

24 и призовите7121 вы имя8034 бога430 вашего, а я призову7121 имя8034 Господа3068 Бога430 моего. Тот Бог, Который даст6030 ответ6030 посредством огня,784 есть Бог.430 И отвечал6030 весь народ5971 и сказал:559 хорошо.2896

24 And you call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD my God; and the God who answers by fire, he is God. And all the people answered and said, You have spoken well.

25 И сказал559 Илия452 пророкам5030 Вааловым:1168 выберите977 себе одного259 тельца6499 и приготовьте6213 вы прежде,7223 ибо вас много;7227 и призовите7121 имя8034 бога430 вашего, но огня784 не подкладывайте.7760

25 Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, Choose for yourselves one bullock, and prepare it first; for you are many;

26 И взяли3947 они тельца,6499 который дан5414 был им, и приготовили,6213 и призывали7121 имя8034 Ваала1168 от утра1242 до полудня,6672 говоря:559 Ваале,1168 услышь6030 нас! Но не было ни голоса,6963 ни ответа.6030 И скакали6452 они у жертвенника,4196 который сделали.6213

26 And they took the bullock which was given them and prepared it and called on the name of Baal from morning even until noon, saying, O Baal, answer us. But there was no voice nor any that answered. And they cut themselves upon the altar which they had made.

27 В полдень6672 Илия452 стал смеяться2048 над ними и говорил:559 кричите7121 громким1419 голосом,6963 ибо он бог;430 может быть, он задумался,7879 или занят7873 чем-либо, или в дороге,1870 а может быть, и спит,3463 так он проснется!3364

27 And when it was noon, Elijah mocked them and said, Cry with a loud voice; for he is a god; perhaps he is meditating or he is busy or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.

28 И стали они кричать7121 громким1419 голосом,6963 и кололи1413 себя по своему обыкновению4941 ножами2719 и копьями,7420 так что кровь1818 лилась8210 по ним.

28 And they cried with a loud voice and they cut themselves after their custom with daggers and lances, until their blood gushed out upon them.

29 Прошел5674 полдень,6672 а они все еще бесновались5012 до самого времени вечернего жертвоприношения;45035927 но не было ни голоса,6963 ни ответа,6030 ни слуха.7182

29 And when midday was past, they prophesied until the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, but there was no voice nor any to answer nor any to listen. Then Elijah said to the prophets of the idols, Now you can move, so that I may prepare my burnt offerings. And they moved aside.

30 And Elijah said to all the people, Come near to me. And all the people came near to him. And he repaired the altar of the LORD that was broken down.

31 И взял3947 Илия452 двенадцать81476240 камней,68 по числу4557 колен7626 сынов1121 Иакова,3290 которому Господь3068 сказал559 так: Израиль3478 будет имя8034 твое.

31 And Elijah took twelve stones, according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the LORD came, saying, Israel shall be your name;

32 И построил1129 из сих камней68 жертвенник4196 во имя8034 Господа,3068 и сделал6213 вокруг5439 жертвенника4196 ров,8585 вместимостью1004 в две саты5429 зерен,2233

32 And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD; and he made a trench about the altar, as great as would contain two measures of seed.

33 и положил6186 дрова,6086 и рассек5408 тельца,6499 и возложил7760 его на дрова,6086

33 And he put the wood in order and cut the bullock in pieces and laid it on the wood and said, Fill four jars with water and pour it on the burnt offering and on the wood.

34 и сказал:559 наполните4390 четыре702 ведра3537 воды4325 и выливайте3332 на всесожигаемую5930 жертву5930 и на дрова.6086 Потом сказал:559 повторите.8138 И они повторили.8138 И сказал:559 сделайте8027 то же в8027 третий8027 раз.8027 И сделали8027 в8027 третий8027 раз,8027

34 And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.

35 и вода4325 полилась3212 вокруг5439 жертвенника,4196 и ров8585 наполнился4390 водою.4325

35 And the water ran round about the altar; and they filled the trench also with water.

36 Во время приношения5927 вечерней жертвы4503 подошел5066 Илия452 пророк5030 и сказал:559 Господи,3068 Боже430 Авраамов,85 Исааков3327 и Израилев!3478 Да познают3045 в сей день,3117 что Ты один Бог430 в Израиле,3478 и что я раб5650 Твой и сделал6213 все по слову1697 Твоему.

36 And at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet came near and said, O LORD God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel and that I am thy servant and that I have done all these things at thy word.

37 Услышь6030 меня, Господи,3068 услышь6030 меня! Да познает3045 народ5971 сей, что Ты, Господи,3068 Бог,430 и Ты обратишь5437 сердце3820322 их к Тебе.

37 Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that all this people may know that thou art the LORD God and that thou hast turned their perverse heart back again.

38 И ниспал5307 огонь784 Господень3068 и пожрал398 всесожжение,5930 и дрова,6086 и камни,68 и прах,6083 и поглотил3897 воду,4325 которая во рве.8585

38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt offering and the wood and the stones and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.

39 Увидев7200 это, весь народ5971 пал5307 на лице6440 свое и сказал:559 Господь3068 есть Бог,430 Господь3068 есть Бог!430

39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces; and they said, The LORD, he is God; the LORD, he is God.

40 И сказал559 им Илия:452 схватите8610 пророков5030 Вааловых,1168 чтобы ни один376 из них не укрылся.4422 И схватили8610 их, и отвел3381 их Илия452 к потоку5158 Киссону7028 и заколол7819 их там.

40 And Elijah said to them, Seize the prophets of Baal, and let not one of them escape. And they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon and slew them there.

41 И сказал559 Илия452 Ахаву:256 пойди,5927 ешь398 и пей,8354 ибо слышен шум6963 дождя.1653

41 And Elijah said to Ahab, Go up, eat and drink; for there is a rushing sound of heavy rain.

42 И пошел5927 Ахав256 есть398 и пить,8354 а Илия452 взошел5927 на верх7218 Кармила3760 и наклонился1457 к земле,776 и положил7760 лице6440 свое между коленами1290 своими,

42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he bent himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees;

43 и сказал559 отроку5288 своему: пойди,5927 посмотри5027 к морю.3220 Тот пошел5927 и посмотрел,5027 и сказал:559 ничего нет. Он сказал:559 продолжай7725 это до семи7651 раз.6471

43 And said to his servant, Go up now, and look toward the sea. And he went up and looked, and said, There is nothing. And Elijah said to him, Go again seven times.

44 В седьмой7637 раз тот сказал:559 вот, небольшое6996 облако5645 поднимается5927 от моря,3220 величиною в ладонь3709 человеческую.376 Он сказал:559 пойди,5927 скажи559 Ахаву:256 «запрягай631 колесницу твою и поезжай,3381 чтобы не застал6113 тебя дождь».1653

44 And at the seventh time, he said, Behold, there is a little cloud like a man's hand rising out of the sea. And he said to him, Go up, say to Ahab, Mount your horse, and get down before the rain stops you.

45 Между тем небо8064 сделалось6937 мрачно6937 от туч5645 и от ветра,7307 и пошел большой1419 дождь.1653 Ахав256 же сел7392 в7392 колесницу,7392 и поехал3212 в Изреель.3157

45 And while he busied himself here and there, the heavens were black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel.

46 И была на Илии452 рука3027 Господня.3068 Он опоясал8151 чресла4975 свои и бежал7323 пред3942 Ахавом256 до самого935 Изрееля.3157

46 And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran before Ahab till he entered Jezreel.
